STATION THREE

What can you do with a computer?

At this station, you will demonstrate what you can do with computers.  You have 20 minutes.  WORK AS FAST AS YOU CAN.   It is important that you follow the instructions in order. 

Note: If there is something you cannot do or remember how to do, move on until you find something you can do.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. OPEN and CREATE a document in Microsoft Word.  Type your name, your teacher's name and today's date.

2. FIND an IMAGE of someone working in a job or career that you wish to pursue.

3. COPY and PASTE this image into your WORD document.  Beneath the image, type the URL of the website where the image is used.

4. TYPE a paragraph (minimum of 3 sentences) on why you wish to pursue this career. 

5. Use a SEARCH ENGINE to find a professional organization for your career of choice and copy the homepage logo, the name of the organization and the website URL into your WORD document.

6. Use the electronic catalogue to find an appropriate book on your chosen career.  Cut and paste all the information into your document. In point form type in some new information about the book that is available on the web catalogue.. 

7. Use your own e-mail account (Hotmail, Yahoo, etc) to send this as an e-mail attachment to your counsellor at the following e-mail address: gladstonecounsellor@hotmail.com.
